Here we share some of our favorite featured projects to get a sense of who we are as designers.
Early Education Interior Design
Kindergarten Classrooms : This project was all about color and making an outdated, boring room come alive for young children. We researched color and how children react to it and choice a color scheme that both excites young learners but also that keeps them focused. Furniture was chosen based on function per the teacher’s requirements and the space was broken down into multiple sections so that the classroom could be used for many different functions throughout the day. Safety was also a main factor in this space as young children require a different solution than high schoolers.
Elementary School Outdoor Learning Space : As a school in Honolulu, Hawaii, outdoor learning is an amazing opportunity in a location where the weather is warm all year round. This plain, unused exterior bridge space between two buildings was the perfect space to renovate with furniture that can withstand the heat and humidity of Hawaii’s climate. Complete with glass whiteboards for collaboration and colorful chairs, what was once an unused boring space became a colorful popular learning space.
Elementary School Maker’s Space : In the age of 21st century educational design, a Maker’s Space is now a fundamental of STEM programs around the world. This budget-friendly Maker’s Space was created for Elementary school students to start learning early about how to create things. With lots of storage and collaboration spaces, we used as much existing wall space as possible complete with a large barn door faced with writing surfaces.
Elementary and Middle School Media Center : Most libraries are a thing of the past in schools these days as those spaces are being repurposed as Media Centers, centered around using technology. This Elementary and Middle School Media Center was a project we did in phases, starting with furniture, then working toward new flooring and other finishes and finally with other major updates as needed in the space. Using color and a custom designed Check Out desk, the space went from old and ugly to bright and inspiring.
Middle + High School Interior Design
High School Physics Classroom : This classroom renovation had two goals: update a plain, old space into a modern classroom as well as offering storage solutions for both the teacher and the students. Utilizing furniture that holds student backpacks beneath the seat and tables with collaboration white boards attached, we created a space that’s easy and efficient for students. Incorporating technology and large storage cabinets, alongside a clean modern color and material palette, the space feels modern and inspiring.
High School Dance + Multi-Purpose Room : Working on a new innovative with the school to incorporate more Arts Programs into its curriculum, we created this space that had to serve as both a Dance Classroom as well as a Multi-Purpose Space. Using a specialty flooring meant for dance, we were able to bring together all the needs for this classroom. All the furniture was chosen for it’s light-weight features and easy movability. This room can morph from open dance floor to full classroom with tables in chairs in minutes.
High School Bio-Med Science Lab : This space was all about how to fit all the requirements in the space with not a lot of extra square footage. Needing both lab stations as well as a classroom environment, we utilized flexible furniture that can be moved and used as needed. In an effort to reduce cost to meet the budget, we opted to purchase lab stations and have them altered in place by the contractor to make them feel more custom.
High School STEM and Aerospace Facility : Working in a facility where students learn to fly planes and work on other STEM related activities, all sorts of spaces were required. From flight simulator rooms to open classrooms and flex spaces, this project was all about how technology could bring a space alive.
High School Band Room : Originally a locker room, this space went from hard surfaces and echos to an acoustically solid High School Band Room on a fairly small budget. By adding soft surfaces like carpet, upholstered furniture, and heavy velvet curtains along with acoustic solutions to keep the sound from crossing over to the classroom next door, we created a modern room for Band practice. We also incorporated custom storage cabinets specific to the sizes of instruments used in the class.
Commercial Office Interior Design
Grade School Main Office : In much need of a modernization, this space was bland and not functional when we started. We prioritized modernizing the space and selecting new furniture that actually met the needs and functions of the Main Office staff. Adding materials and finishes into the space that match the School’s colors, we were able to bring a once boring space alive for both students and staff alike.
STEM and Aerospace Facility Office Spaces : Along with many classroom needs in this project, there were several conference rooms and offices in the building as well that needed updates. Each had an entirely different purpose and each was designed proportionately for those functions.
School Fundraising Office : For a simple, low budget renovation, this space simply needed new furniture and new paint. We were able to recycle several pieces of furniture as well as purchase a few new pieces to create a mix of both old and new for a very low price point.
Commercial Office Conference Room : Working on a shoe-string budget, this space was cluttered and chaotic and didn’t function well for meetings. We re-planned how the space was laid out, added more technology and cleaned up the aesthetic to match the company’s mission.
